A survey conducted by the AI Accelerator Institute of over 300 CTOs, CISOs, and engineering leaders uncovered a significant gap between AI adoption and effective identity security, as detailed in their 2026 State of AI and Identity Report.

The findings reveal that a majority of organizations have AI technologies advancing faster than their identity infrastructure, posing significant security risks. This highlights the critical need for organizations to improve identity management as AI evolves.

Enterprises and organizations utilizing AI technologies are particularly vulnerable, especially those relying on shared SaaS identity infrastructures, which encounter twice the frequency of identity incidents compared to self-hosted setups.

There remains uncertainty in balancing AI advancements with robust identity security, as misaligned confidence and protection levels indicate potential oversight in auditing and access revocation measures.
